What’s the Deep & Nitrox Diver Course?

This combined course gives you the skills and certifications to dive deeper and extend your bottom time using enriched air (Nitrox). You’ll learn how to plan and perform dives down to 40 metres, manage gas exposure, and use Nitrox to safely reduce nitrogen loading and increase dive time.

It’s the perfect next step after your Open Water certification – especially if you’re interested in wreck diving, marine life at depth, or getting closer to advanced and technical diving pathways.

What to Expect

Online Learning – At Your Own Pace – You’ll complete SSI’s interactive digital theory for both the Deep and Enriched Air Nitrox specialties. These cover gas management, decompression theory, dive planning, nitrogen narcosis, and how to use and analyse Nitrox cylinders.

Instructor-Led Theory & Dive Planning – Once you’re confident with the theory, you’ll join your instructor to walk through real-world dive scenarios, Nitrox dive tables, safety protocols, and pre-dive checks for enriched air diving.

Three Open Water Deep Dives – With your instructor, you’ll complete three open water dives progressing gradually from 18 metres down to 40 metres. You’ll put your deep diving knowledge into practice while using Nitrox for added safety and extended no-decompression time.

Who’s it for?

This course is for certified Open Water Divers aged 15 or over who want to go beyond basic recreational limits.
It’s ideal for anyone looking to explore wrecks, walls, or deeper reefs, and for divers interested in longer, safer bottom times using Nitrox.

You’ll need to be in good health, comfortable in the water, and ready to advance your diving skills.
