This package provides academic training and certification credit only, allowing you to complete all theory online before booking your practical dives with any SSI Dive Centre. You can study at your own pace and schedule the in-water sessions whenever you’re ready, at a location that suits you. If you choose to complete your practical training with us, the amount you’ve already paid will be deducted from the full course price.

This package will give you access to SSI’s digital learning platform, which covers all required knowledge through videos, written modules, and interactive quizzes. The materials can be accessed on multiple devices, including mobile phones, laptops, and desktops.

What You’ll Learn Online:

The SSI Open Water Diver eLearning provides the complete theoretical foundation required to become a certified diver capable of planning and conducting dives with a buddy to 18 metres. These comprehensive online modules give you a deep understanding of scuba principles, equipment use, safety procedures, and dive planning before you begin your confined-water and open-water sessions.

What the online theory covers:

• In-depth understanding of physics, physiology, pressure changes, buoyancy, and breathing gas considerations
• Scuba equipment configuration, care, maintenance, and how each component functions underwater
• Gas planning, air consumption awareness, and responsible dive-time and depth management
• Mastery-level buoyancy concepts - trim, weighting, breath control, and propulsion techniques
• Dive planning methods, including environmental assessment, buddy responsibilities, and pre-dive checks
• Navigation fundamentals, including natural references and basic compass techniques
• Risk management, problem-solving underwater, and emergency procedures
• Environmental awareness, responsible diving practices, and protecting marine ecosystems

This eLearning fully prepares you for your practical training, empowering you to become a confident Open Water Diver.

Please note: In-water sessions are not included with this eLearning product. They must be booked separately with us or any SSI Dive Centre offering these courses.

The academic training is the first step in your scuba journey, to begin your eLearning you'll need to create a free SSI account affiliated with our dive centre, so that you can access the learning platform/app. Please use this link  here  to create your SSI account. Once your SSI account is set up and you have paid for this product, we will release the course materials to you. You can then complete your digital self-study at your own pace and finish the theory modules before starting your practical sessions.
