SSI Open Water and Computer Diving Course Materials
This package provides academic training and certification credit only, allowing you to complete all theory online before booking your practical dives with any SSI Dive Centre. You can study at your own pace and schedule the in-water sessions whenever you’re ready, at a location that suits you. If you choose to complete your practical training with us, the amount you’ve already paid will be deducted from the full course price.

This package will give you access to SSI’s digital learning platform, which covers all required knowledge through videos, written modules, and interactive quizzes. The materials can be accessed on multiple devices, including mobile phones, laptops, and desktops.

Open Water Diver
What You’ll Learn Online:
This globally recognised diving certification provides you with all the essential scuba-diving knowledge required for the practical part of your course. The digital learning platform delivers interactive content and includes review questions to help you test your knowledge. You can learn at your own pace, and the online training will prepare you for your pool and open-water sessions when you are ready.

• Basic scuba theory, including pressure, buoyancy, and how your body responds underwater
• How dive equipment works and how to choose, assemble, and care for your gear
• Essential safety skills, including equalization, buddy procedures, and problem-prevention
• Understanding depth limits, environmental considerations, and responsible diving practices
• How to plan dives using time, depth, and air-consumption principles
• Navigation fundamentals, including natural references and basic compass use
• Key emergency skills, such as sharing air, controlled ascents, and signalling techniques
• Preparing for your confined-water and open-water training sessions

Computer Diving speciality
What You’ll Learn Online:

• How dive computers work and what their displays are telling you
• The way computers calculate depth, bottom time, and nitrogen absorption
• Planning dives and surface intervals using your own computer
• Adjusting settings for nitrox, altitude, and personal preferences
• Understanding no-decompression limits and ascent-rate warnings
• Using digital dive logs and downloaded data to track performance
• Essential maintenance: battery care, firmware updates, and basic troubleshooting

Optional Practical Training (Booked Separately)
The SSI Computer Diving Speciality can be completed entirely through eLearning, but many divers choose to add in-water training to gain hands-on experience with their own device. These optional sessions often include:

• Planning and conducting dives using your personal dive computer
• Monitoring nitrogen loading, ascent rates, and safety stops in real time
• Practicing simulated emergency situations like missed stops or rapid ascents
• Comparing computer-based planning with traditional manual methods

Please note: These in-water sessions are not included with this eLearning product. They must be booked separately with us or any SSI Dive Centre offering the Computer Diving Speciality.
