Who We Are

Newhaven Scuba Centre is a friendly and active dive club and training centre on the South Coast of England. Based in Newhaven, we’re all about real diving - training new divers, taking certified ones out every week on our own boat, and building a welcoming community of passionate underwater explorers.

We don’t just run courses - we dive year-round from our own boat, organise regular UK and overseas trips, and offer a vibrant club scene to keep you in the water and connected. We believe the best way to learn is one-to-one, at your pace. Everyone learns differently, and we get that - so we tailor our courses and teaching to suit you. We're with you every step of the way.

Our Instructors & Training

All our instructors are SSI-certified dive professionals with enhanced DBS checks. They’re experienced, passionate divers dedicated to making your learning safe, fun, and accessible. Formerly a PADI centre, we switched to SSI to offer a more flexible, modern training experience. With SSI’s globally recognised certifications and personalised approach, we can tailor your journey to suit your pace and goals.

I just wanted to send a note to thank you and the team for your
support in helping me complete the scuba try-dive and overcome the
claustrophobia issues that have prevented me from doing it in the
past.

I’d especially like to express my gratitude to Nat, who was an
amazing instructor. Her calm guidance, understanding, and experience
made all the difference, and I’m not sure I would have had such a
positive experience without her support.

Thank you again to you all…this has been a major personal hurdle for
me to overcome, and I truly appreciate the encouragement and
professionalism throughout.

Came to the shop for a mask. The assistant was very helpful and friendly, and let me try various masks on for size. Great shop with cool and interesting artefacts from local dive sites on display too!

Great Club for people new to diving. The head instructor Glenn is very experienced. Would totally recommend for all levels of divers. I found this club to be extremely welcoming for beginners to diving and great for helping nervous newcomers to become more experienced and confident. As a club it has a great community.

I first came to Glenn as an AOW diver, but having only dived in the UK a handful of times with my university club. Through doing drysuit skills and various dives, I’ve managed to build my confidence diving in the UK. Glenn is particularly helpful with teaching courses to beginners and new students - helping them feel comfortable in the water, which is supported by his great team of welcoming instructors. He is also great at recommending good-quality equipment for a reasonable price. Newhaven scuba also offer an annual abroad trip, which is really fun and accessible to both club and non-club members!

There are absolutely much better services and options than this one. Unprofessional, rather rude and half-competent representative who rarely/if at all replies (via a ‘call me if no one around’ number) or is present during working hours (set by themselves). It’s usually a week long hassle to even talk to someone, followed by frequent dodging in giving a clear information or an answer (either by irrelevant xp bragging or by providing an answer late) with a goal solely to extract money from new clients. Convincing customers that they know more than they are actually able to handle or provide, eventually avoiding embarrassment by blaming ambient conditions or clients lack of knowledge. Very poor approach and completely unbacked arrogance - glaringly obvious from another instructors perspective and unfortunately not observable by an average client or a person new to diving.
Absolutely no chances for refunds even if misinformed, offered incorrectly priced services, and having them not provided in customer friendly manner and/or eventually granted at reduced quantity/quality - take CAUTION

My daughter was a little apprehensive at first but within minutes of meeting Glenn and the Team (Clive) any apprehension went and a beaming smile was on her face. Glenn is superb and the Team he has put together is amazing. He is so attentive and really passes on his passion for the subject to his pupils. So fortunate to have found him and Newhaven Scuba and if you want to get into the world of diving no better place to begin your exciting journey.

Glenn, Will & Steve took amazing care of us whilst doing out SSI Deep diving & Enriched Air Nitrox courses this past weekend.

Glenn is extremely knowledgeable and experienced which made it easy for us to decide to dive with him, especially as newbies to diving in the UK!

Total professionalism. Great dive today on the TR Thompson, 4m Vis and 16c sea temp.
If Carlsberg did Scuba then this club is it, so if you are wanting to learn Scuba, this is the place to be.

Fantastic training centre.
Have done a few courses here and still a few to complete.
Fantastic place to train or dive local.
It's an unrushed experience where your understanding and skill is forefront in the trainers mind keeping you safe both during and after training.
There's always good conversation and helpful information from all the team.
Thank you Glenn, Steve, Will , Cat, Yaz and everyone that I have missed
